Neil Simon's comic fable, "Fools," set in the small Ukraine village of Kulyenchikov in the late 1800s required an integrated set that could change scenes easily. A new school teacher soon finds the village is under a "stupid" curse and complications ensue when he falls in love. The set evoked a giant, two dimensional pop-up children's storybook.
